My name is Barbara and my husband is called Jon.

We finally opened our doors on the 16th September 2017. The renovations took us around 3 months. We had to convert the building from a residential to a retail unit. Planning permission was of course applied for as was advertising consent both were granted.

During our renovations we uncovered an original Yorkshire stone floor, two fireplaces and a Medieval well.  I am busy trying to research the history of this old building. I do know that it was built in the 1700's and was once within the curtilage of Richmond Castle. The well must have served a large proportion of the occupants of the Castle.

I sell gifts and art. I am trying to source a lot of my stock from the local area.

I have already been approached by a few very talented local artists which is very encouraging.

Other business owners in Richmond have been very welcoming  and have been in to introduce themselves.

We moved to Richmond around 4 months ago and have been renovating N0 19 and a holiday let called Upside Down Cottage. It has been a tiring and emotional process. The holiday let is now up and running as is No 19 so maybe a bit of a rest is deserved??

I hope you will come and visit our shop and introduce yourself

More blogging later......................
